  • 1 Lb Button Mushrooms
  • 1 cup Plain All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp McCormick’s Rotisserie Chicken seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Pepper seasoning Salt
  • 1/2 pint Buttermilk
  • Cooking Oil

You will also need:

  • 2 large gallon size Ziploc Bags
  • Large Saucepan / Pasta Pot or a Deep Fryer
  • Metal Tongs
  • Baking Tray – lined with paper towels or a wire cake rack

  1. If mushrooms are too big, cut in half
  2. Pre-Heat Cooking Oil 375F
  3. Place flour and seasoning in first ziploc bag, close and shake until mixed together
  4. Place mushrooms in buttermilk in second Ziploc bag, coat in buttermilk before you dredge in flour mixture, seal and shake until coated
  5. Once oil has reached 375F, carefully drop 8-10 pieces of mushrooms into hot oil, constantly turning over with tongs for 4-5 min until golden brown
  6. Remove with tongs, drain onto wire rack or paper towels
  7. Cook remaining mushrooms in batches of 8-10
  8. Serve hot with horseradish dipping sauce or ranch dressing

  • Make sure oil is pre-heated to 375F before you drop mushrooms into oil  or it won’t cook properly and you will lose the breading
  • For a low carb, healthier version, you can use wheat flour instead of all purpose
  • I use Smart Balance Omega3 Cooking Oil for deep frying
