Queen Elizabeth’s 65th Sapphire Jubilee

Can you even imagine having the same job for 65 years?  Most of us would be horrified at the mere thought, yet our Queen has accomplished just that, lovingly serving the Commonwealth for a staggering 65 years.  She was 25 years old when she became the Queen of England.  I don’t know too many 25-year-olds that would be capable of taking on the enormity of such a thankless task, not to mention the responsibility at that age.

I still remember fondly having to sing

God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save The Queen!
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save The Queen!

at school assemblies growing up

and I remember when the national anthem was also changed and we no longer sang this anymore

We celebrated the Queen’s birthday long weekend in June, even though her birthday was in April? No one ever questioned it growing up, we were all too excited to be allowed fireworks in the back yard

My father took several photos of the royal family over the years and was given up close and personal access not many were afforded as part of the media press core

I have met and spoken to Prince Charles while the Queen was inside a church attending to official business

My mother is extremely fond of the Queen, they are very close in age

So I take this opportunity to thank her for her 65-year reign in the monarchy and to wish her majesty many more years to come…
