Ambience – Lake Martin

My husband & I don’t have very much time together due to his crazy work schedule.  When he takes a couple of days off at the end of the year, we sometimes go for a long drive to talk, to chat, to just have time away from home.

A few years back we went for a drive, we had planned it ahead of time but weren’t really sure what we would find once we got there. I have been known to take a photograph or two, (or two hundred), so my trusted camera came along for the ride.  I am so glad I took it with me

We stumbled upon a little inlet with beautiful sweeping lake views, we didn’t know it at the time, but we were on private property. It was a public holiday so no one was around.  It was so quiet and serene, a warm sunny day in the middle of what was supposed to be winter, not a soul around for miles

What makes these photos all the more remarkable (& I am not talking about my photographic skills) is that a couple of years after these photo’s were taken, a tornado swept right through this area, and all the trees were completely flattened

We have ‘before’ photo’s of what the area used to look like, a small piece of Lake Martin history

Talk about being in the right place at the right time, (or the wrong place? at the right time as the case may be), not a bad little find for a humble road trip
